Professional and expert guidance for your hip and groin pain

One of the most baffling injuries for many sports people are the hip and groin injuries. These injuries are most often slow in onset and easily aggravated by exercise. They are difficult to shake and bring about many consultations with many different practitioners.

The Sports and Exercise Physicians at the Sports and Arthritis Clinic (SPARC) are considered to be experts in the field of activity-related groin injury. Dr Geoffrey Verrall has many research publications on the identification and management of these complex groin and hip problems. He is a recent participant in the 1st World Conference of Groin Injury in Sport and was part of the expert working group who made a position statement on the nature of groin injury in Sport. He has a particular interest in osteitis pubis and hip conditions. He has been named by the AFL as been instrumental in bringing the problem of osteitis pubis in football to the attention of the players, clubs and medical/physiotherapy practitioners. He has a particular interest in the non-surgical treatment of these injuries establishing a suitable active rest period, combined with rehabilitation and a supervised/sensible return to activity program.

No other injury has quite the same need for accurate identification and a team approach to getting better. Many cases are discussed among the Sports and Exercise Physicians, the physiotherapists who have an interest and expertise in activity-related groin injury and the orthopaedic surgeons who sometimes assist in the active management of complex cases. If your case is complex you can be assured that your case will be discussed by a variety of experts before any intervention or rehabilitation commences. In short SPARC is here to give you certainty about your complex activity-related groin injury.
